Memory Keeper's Daughter: Page-turner?

At what point did the story “have” you? Not have you? Lose you?

I have to say, this book had me from the first chapter. It was a great read, and I found the ending to be very satisfying -- tho' a lot of my friends who have read the book said that by the end, they had stopped caring about the characters. I didn't have that experience, and I found the final scene to be that wonderful sad-but-sorta-happy thing that's hard to capture but really wonderful.

I have to admit I wasn't really that into it ....there were times that I had to just put it down. It was alright, just not my deal , however I did read the whole thing and it wasn't bad!!

I was hooked by the second page. However, about halfway through the book the quality seemed to go downhill. It was almost as if the author got bored with rewriting. There were so many instances of needlessly repeating the same information, as if we just didn't get it the first time. And once David died, I kind of stopped caring.

Sorry to say - the story never had me... it started out very average and went to very predictable very quickly... this was a hard one for me to finish...
